Why can't I hold all these mods

Moving to Feed The Beast

April 26, 2015 by Aaron Kolker

So you're probably wondering why the server has been down? Well that's probably because I may have accidentally the whole thing. Don't worry your stuff has been saved. Basically Cumcast decided to fuck up our internet again. It all has to deal with Verizon and Comcast's shitty fraud departments. Basically our phone number was stolen, something something something, internet is broken. We just got our internet working again after they fucked us over all week. On a different note, in the next week or so, we will be migrating to Feed the Beast. Feed the Beast is a great mod pack that actually gives use for all those iron blocks you have.

Migration is a bit hard since these mods modify the terrain generation algorithm. New ores like copper and tin will only spawn in newly generated chunks. To fix this I would have to regen the entire map meaning all items would be lost. I have a way so that most of the people can keep their houses and items. In the map below I have circled an area that will be immune from regeneration. Everything out side will be regenerated according to the original world seed. This should preserve the same layout while adding additional biomes and ores outside of the given area.

Now the people outside the above area will loose everything. Contact me so I can move your houses and items.

But I want to play vanilla Minecraft

Well you still can. Just because FTB is installed doesn't mean you can't still play Vanilla style. Just don't build any of the machines and you will be set. In the next coming weeks I will be making tutorials on ftb machines and mods so no one will feel over whelmed by the new mods and items. I recommend checking out these YogsCast series to learn FTB. Some of them were made using the Tekkit mod pack and some of them are out of date, but you still will be able to learn the basics.

That's great, but installing mods in minecraft == 1.5 Bitches

True, installing mods manually sucks, but installing FTB is super duper easy. Just download the client from feed-the-beast.com and your ready to go. Just login with your mojang credentials and make sure you select the proper mod pack which has yet to be determined. They have many flavours of FTB such as YogsCraft, which is basically a Tekkit replacement. They also have versions more associated with magic and others which focus on tech. I don't know which one we will be picking and I might need everyone to sign on all at once so I can monitor resource requirements. Different packs have different client and server overhead. Odds are it will be FTB∞ or FTB Lite 3
